  1. My friend gave me permission to post the photo of her son but since he's still just a little boy I thought I would keep him anonymous.

Wow. Aren't we all so clever? I love them all. Well done to all of us. Can't wait for the next Sewcial.

  5. Tomorrow is my last day of fair, I give back all those pretty out-fits and quilts. Then you will see me working on my sleepware. Is anyone else at the point I am at?

  6. Ya know Fonnell, with all the talk of Eileen West gowns I'm thinkin' I may need another one. I'm gonna do my best to get it done before our Sewcial is over. I'm trying to finish up a shirt dress I started and then hopefully start the nightie tomorrow. I'll start with the same vintage pattern that Barbara chose.

Way to go Ann. That border print is very subtle, just gorgeous.

  9. Its done! Yipeee! Despite busy, busy day, I cut it out this morning, learnt how to match stripes, at least on the underarms and side seams, sewed a flat method of inserting a sleeve in record time for me-been a few years since that's happened, ran out to teach a 3 hour kid's quilt class, than ran back for finishing the rest around dinner and the kids.
Total miracle its done, but it did go together fast. Nina came into her own and stitched admirably and at considerable speed!
Did notice the pattern had a really big difference between the back shoulder seam width and the front, which I didn't like the look of, so trimmed both sides off of the outer back upper shoulder area equally and thought I'd see how it goes-and its fine for a nighty. Otherwise there would have been about an inch and a half to ease which seemed like a huge amount.
The side seams were also different lengths by maybe half an inch so I adjusted that, and found that at the centre back the neckline had a truly odd peaky bit- Ursula, did you find that too? I folded the pattern down into a better shape and finished the neckline with strip of self fabric-single binding, and extended it out for the ties.

In all I[m happy to have a nighty actually finished and wearable-it will come to my quilting retreat with me in October.
The colours didn't show up quite so well, they are royal purple-which looks brownish in the photo, turquoise blue, lavender purple, baby blue and grass green, all narrow strips on white background. Its a fresh colour combination.

And Ann, firstly very nice nighty! Secondly you have my permission to post the photo I emailed to you tonight-Sunday evening Aussie time.

Thanks for organising the sewcial, its been lots of fun. Great nightwear everyone!

Well done Stephanie. Your nighty looks great. I think we have all learned lots with this "no pressure" project. I felt I was allowed to stumble a bit because it was just nightwear. Purely a 'head' thing, I know.

  11. Stephanie, your gown looks so nice and comfy!

Yes, I had that peaky bit going on too so I just trimmed it off as well.

I'm so glad you finished it!

Pam, I agree with you totally. I really enjoyed this project.

  12. Ya know I noticed that same sort of peaked effect at the bottom of some armscyes too. Where the front and back side seam meet there is just a little too much curve resulting in a little corner that needs to be snipped off. We all know this isn't the way these curves are supposed to end so as long as you don't get too hung up on it you can just snip off that little extra and move on.

All the finished sleepwear entries are so different and so inspiring. We run the gamut from cozy comfy to downright boutique chic. I am so pleased to see you all using your Lutterloh patterns. That really was the goal all along but now we have nice jammies to wear too! Congratulations to all our participants!!!

  13. Hi everyone,
The clothes are just amazing. I am purely deighted. When hand drafting patterns it's easy to get those little points, on the crotch, the armscye etc. We usually take a ruler and smooth these places out. BUT snip snip is just fine. It is a normal pattern maker adjustment. Feel free to make a change on those paper patterns for the future. Line the two pieces up and draw a cut off line or is you need to add something to make the curse smoother, just tape some paper on. My armscye always needs a touch more paper to remore the point and it fits better for me.

I'm home from camping and ready to start sewing.

  14. Oh I can't believe this!!!!

First of all, everything looks great! You ladies have done an outstanding job!!!

Secondly, my nightie is not finished :( For whatever reason, I thought the deadline was the 17th... I'm going to finish as soon as I can and send the pics when I'm done. Is that alright?

  15. Yes Barbara, I think we all do this from time to time. We get a number stuck in our heads and manage to convince ourselves it's the right one. If you thought the deadline was Thursday then you'd be done by the weekend anyway. Fonnell is still working on hers too I think. Don't rush through and end up having to rip seams. We'll still post your pic when you send it. Just be sure to add a note of permission to post it too.
